By using openschoolnw.org, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. "Open School," "we," and "us" mean Open School, Inc., a nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon.
Using this site
This site is here to share who we are, what our programs do, and how you can help. You are welcome to browse it, share links, and use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. Please don't use it to break the law, harm others, interfere with how it works, or try to reach parts of it you aren't meant to see.
Our content
The words, photos, video, logos, and designs on this site belong to Open School or are used with permission. You may share our pages and quote short passages with credit. For anything beyond that, such as reusing photos or reproducing our materials, please ask first. Student photos and stories appear with permission, and may not be copied or repurposed.
Links to other sites
This site links to other sites, including donation, event, and newsletter services. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices. A link isn't an endorsement.
Donations
When you give online, you are taken to a secure payment service run by a third party: Raisely for general giving, and Greater Giving for gala tickets and sponsorships. We never see or store your full card number. Open School, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (Tax ID 93-0757378). Gifts are tax-deductible as the law allows, and your receipt is your record.
No guarantees
We work to keep this site accurate and up to date, but we provide it "as is." We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or complete. To the fullest extent the law allows, Open School isn't liable for losses that come from using the site or relying on it.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the bottom shows the latest version. Using the site after a change means you accept the update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon.
Privacy Policy
Open School only collects what we need to run this site and stay in touch with people who ask us to. We don't sell your information, and we don't rent it or trade it.
What we collect
What you give us. If you sign up for our newsletter, fill out a contact or application form, register for an event, or donate, we receive the details you enter, such as your name, email, and mailing address.
What our site collects automatically. Like most websites, we receive basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and how you arrived. We use it in aggregate to see what's working and to keep the site secure.
Cookies. Cookies are small files your browser stores. We and our website host use them to make the site work and to understand traffic, using Squarespace Analytics and Google Analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
You don't need an account or to give us personal information to browse this site.
How we use it
To send the newsletter and updates you asked for.
To respond to your questions, applications, and requests.
To process and acknowledge gifts, and to send receipts.
To improve the site and keep it secure.
To meet legal and accounting requirements.
Donations and payments
Online gifts are processed by a third-party payment service: Raisely for general giving, and Greater Giving for gala tickets and sponsorships. Your card details go directly to that service. Open School never receives or stores them. The service sends us your name, contact details, and gift amount so we can thank you and keep records.
Newsletter and email
We send our newsletter through Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of any email, or by contacting us. We'll remove you promptly.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the site, send email, and process gifts, and only as needed for those jobs. We may also share it if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our students, staff, or site. We never sell personal information.
Student and family privacy
This website isn't where Open School collects student records. Students' education and personal information are handled under separate agreements and applicable laws. Photos and stories of students and families appear on this site only with their permission.
Children
This site is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Keeping your information safe
We use reasonable safeguards, including secure connections and trusted vendors. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security.
Your choices
You can ask us to tell you what information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also opt out of emails at any time. Contact us using the details below and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll post a notice on our home page, and we'll tell people by email if we plan to use their information in a new way. The date below shows the most recent update.
